Andrea Talarico was the winner of the June 30th, 2012 “Dirty Laundry” storyslam. Besides being an incredibly creative woman and talented storyteller, Andrea is the manager of Library Express at the Mall at Steamtown. The Library Express is the newest branch of the Lackawanna County Library System as well as a new and used bookstore. She is the former Managing Partner of Anthology Books in downtown Scranton, and is currently pursuing her Masters in Library Science from Clarion State University.
Her community involvement has included First Night Scranton 2010, the Downtown Business Association, First Friday Scranton Art Walk, Poetry Out Loud, Main Street Scranton, and hosting various poetry readings throughout the area. Her book of poetry, Spinning with the Tornado, was published by Paper Kite Press in 2003. Andrea was listed in the Times Leader’s 40 under 40 and the NEPA Business Journal’s Top 25 Women in Business.
Andrea tells us that she reads entirely too many books, likes writing poetry, and is interested in urban planning. She makes a concerted effort to shop locally. She officially became Irish just in time for the June storyslam at The Banshee after marrying Conor McGuigan earlier in the month.
Andrea’s Award Winning Story.
